Flash Bang
"Without any further adieu, I shall now have you start a brief journey... into my world."
A powerful flash created by focusing high levels of light into Danwyn's blade that is detonated on command. The blinding flash extends in a five meter radius at a brightness of 10 million Candela that oversaturates the retina of anybody within the blast area, causing flash blindness. This effect can be described as having your vision 'paused', in the specific case of the technique's brightness, for around five seconds or so. Being already blind, Corina is immune to its effects.
Flash Burn
"How's about you have a taste of the power of the sun?"
Corina lobs a ball of super-concentrated ultraviolet light at a target that explodes on impact. Though no knockback is caused, since it is merely light, it is capable of instantly causing third-degree burns on a naked or lightly-clothed target and second-degree to first-degree burns on a target wearing thick clothing. The attack is easily blocked by leather, plate armor, generally anything that is unlike fabric, solid. The light will naturally seep through any cracks, however. As with any type of light, this can also be countered through the use of reflective surfaces like mirrors. Effective up to thirty feet, after which point the ball dissipates.
Flash Break
"The die is cast. The light of righteousness itself shall be your judge!"
The first tier of one of the higher, more refined magics of the House Lucifer. Light is taken not just from the user's magical stores, but also from the surrounding area, typically within a ten meter radius, assuming there are no walls, in which case, the portion of the room that is within ten meters. As light travels at the speed of, well, light, this 'sponge' effect is invisible to all but the user, who concentrates the light and focuses it around Danwyn's blade. The exception is in environments with little illumination, where the absorption of surrounding light causes the area to darken. For all cases, but especially in well-lighted places, the most visible warning that this technique is being used is that the sword starts to glow. The ultimate result is a single stroke that has a 'lightsaber effect' to it.
Use of the technique is highly stressful and reduces the user's overall combat effectiveness by more than half. After all, it is meant to be a decisive move expected to hit a target in an incapacitating or disarming way (read: Non-Lethal). The one member of the House Lucifer who killed somebody with it was summarily arrested and given a sentence viewed to be worse than death, despite his argument that it was accidental.
The less light there is within the given area, the more light has to be taken from the user's magic stores in order to meet the quota. In pitch blackness, the user has to supply all of the light, in which case, depending on the user's stamina, he or she may outright collapse into unconsciousness after its use. Corina's stamina is such that she is reduced to a barely standing, but still conscious state.
Higher forms of the spell class alleviate its limits to various degrees, but that's another story.
Lux Diu
A spell Corina scrounged up from the House Lucifer's Grimoire after her encounter with an opponent who manipulates darkness. Created specifically to counter darkness, natural or otherwise, Lux Diu generates a powerful blast of light within a five meter radius of the user. From there, it can be determined that Lux Diu is in fact, derived from the Flash Bang technique, albeit designed to be far less destructive to the eyes. Alternatively, it can be used in a more passive light (pun not intended), to serve as a torch/flashlight substitute. This version slowly drains minute quantities of magical energy from the user to keep alight.
